this weekend it was a day trip to Hanging Rock......
the place of 'Picnic at Hanging Rock' fame......
there was an air of mystery about the place even
though the story is just that.....
a story.....
a very mysterious piece of fiction.....
however, I could see how people might
have got lost in this place with all its little
crevices, nooks and crannies.....
infact, on the way down from the summit
we completely lost the path and had to
wend our way around and about for a bit
before we got to somewhere we recognised
and could continue our descent of the rock.....
so here's a quick tour - without all the leg ache.....
the children standing under the hanging rock itself.....
Isaac was a little cautious of standing under it
for too long, believing that it might, at any moment,
come tumbling down on top of him.....
he always has been my cautious child.......
here are some of those crevices.....
nooks.....
and crannies I mentioned......
we made sure to take a couple of little
rests on the way up.......
{it was quite a steep climb and my little
heart and very out-of-condition
leg muscles demanded to be allowed
the break......
and there were views to admire so
it would have been wrong just to keep
marching upwards when one could just stand and
enjoy the landscape for a few moments........}
and once we arrived at the top we had to
have our own picnic at Hanging Rock......
whilst enjoying the rather spectacular view
from the summit......
after our picnic, Evie got her paint pallet and
visual art diary out and decided the
landscape needed to be 'captured'
before we attempted our descent.....
we all made it home safe and sound.....
no watches stopping at 12 noon.....
and certainly no memory loss
{well, no worse than usual I should say}.....

Great to see the actual rock. I love that film - very creepy!
All the best
