double celebrations......

we had a day of double celebrations yesterday.....
my 'little boy' celebrated being 12 years old....
seriously..... 12......

I'm afraid that's just not on...
but still it happened and there is nothing I can do
to stop mr time from scooting through and
gobbling up 12 years in what seems like a jiffy.....

presents were given {and received} with great excitement.....

lego from evie.....

built before I had time to clear away the wrapping
paper......

a new calvin and hobbes comic book
from grandma......

 both the kids LOVE reading calvin and hobbes
so this was a welcome addition to our growing
library.......

and a cake was presented
{having been baked according to
VERY specific instructions}
and was thoroughly appreciated....
{especially the glow-in-the-dark candles}

what an absolute joy and privilege it is
to be mum to this gorgeous boy....

but there was another celebration too,
as isaac shared his birthday with
father's day this year here in the south.....

so after cake presenting and candle blowing
out the children then shared their homemade
cards and gifts with Brian......

and look at the time on the clock
{if you can make it out that is....}
6:38am and the first round of
celebrations are already over.....

but we had plenty more treats to enjoy.....

a BIG cooked breakfast -
the kind reserved for birthdays
and Christmas......

a pizza lunch
{isaac, as is tradition in our home,
got to choose all meals and treats
for the day....... there were no
complaints about his choices!}

a visit to an ice cream parlour
for afternoon tea.......

a wander round a toy shop
to see if there was anything that
caught isaac's eye for him to
spend some of his birthday money on....

a party tea, including the
CUTTING of the CAKE.....
{isaac had chosen a chocolate fudge
cake with a layer of chocolate over it so
that it 'cracked' satisfyingly when he cut it....}

and there was also time for a bit of game playing,
donut eating and card shuffling too.....

happy, happy days.....
