Cycling.... with Evie

Brian and Evie went on a bike ride recently and as they were cycling along the edge of the river (which at certain intervals has no barrier between the path and the river) Brian decided to ride on the river side of the path to try and prevent Evie ending up in the river (her steering ability and accuracy is dictated by her involvement in other things that are happening around her!) Evie, however, decided to veer into him instead nearly crashing into his front wheel but managing to pull out just in time to avoid an accident. Brian, with the words 'Evie please watch where you are steering or we could all end up in the river' on his lips was stopped before he could even utter the words by Evie saying with lots of amazement in her voice, 'Daddy, did you see that, our bikes almost kissed!'

Holidays

We just spent a great week in Falmouth with family and managed to visit lots of interesting places and get some creative stuff done too!

We visited Godrevy and saw a group of seals (including baby ones!) on the beach there as well as the lighthouse just off the coast. Here is a photo of Brian and Evie perched on the edge of the cliff looking down to the seals on the beach below (Evie being on the edge of a cliff made everyone nervous, not least of all her dad and auntie!)



A trip to St Michael's Mount was full of fun and photo opportunities. We managed to walk across to the mount over the causeway before the tide came in and cut us off. We spent ages visiting the castle and monastry and sat to have our lunch on a grassy knoll just outside the entrance to the castle looking out on a brilliantly blue atlantic ocean! We caught a boat back to the mainland which excited the children just as much as anything else.





There were lots of opportunities for going to the beach but the sea is at it's coldest just now so the kids donned their wetsuits and took the body boards out while Brian and I sat on the shore and watched (ready to dive in if needed of course!)

Evie spent lots of time picking the wild garlic flowers on the way back from the beach which added a lovely centrepiece (and fragrance) to the dinner table! She was barefoot and carefree, which is exactly how she lives life really.

A fantastic week, can't wait to go back in May (hopefully the water will have warmed up a little by then!!)
