three weeks on...... how times have changed.....

three weeks ago we were at my lovely sisters house in devon......
we were waiting and wondering what the next few weeks and months would
hold for us and whether we would be able to travel to the beautiful land
of Oz before Brian's contract start date came {and went} for his new job.......

in fact, within 24 hours of writing my last blog post we received an early morning phone call
from the lawyer who had been working on our permanent residency application
to say that our visa had just been granted and we were
free to travel to Oz as soon as we wanted to......

and so the 'wondering when things would shift',
and not knowing where our 'home' would be for the next few months,
suddenly turned into the mad world of
booking flights,
organising somewhere to live,
selling a car,
hiring a car,
making money transfers,
organising the cats relocation.....
and so the list went on........
and on.........

during this mad time of 'rushing-around-like-a-headless-chicken'
Isaac managed to injure his knee to such an extent that we had to
take him to the local A&E department to have it checked out......
he had it x-rayed {nothing broken thankfully},
was put on crutches, told to rest it in an elevated position,
take regular pain relief and get it checked out more thoroughly
once we arrived on the other side of the globe......

we took some fleeting opportunities to have last minute catch
ups with some lovely friends and just generally packed in as
much as we could in those last few days.......

there was a slight hiccup at the airport when
Evie's visa didn't appear on the airlines' system
{which meant they couldn't let her board the flight},
but a quick call to Canberra and it was all sorted and we were on our way......

that was 9 days ago now and we are {just about} over the jet leg,
Brian has started work,
the children have started school
{and what a start it was, particularly for Evie,
but that's another story for another time.....}
we've signed the lease for a rental house,
we've had Isaac's knee checked out,
we've hung out with some friends and eaten a lot of their yummy food,
we've been to the ocean {twice}
and we have begun to reacquaint ourselves with this lovely land.....

it's amazing how much can happen in just three weeks......

endings and beginnings......
