I always think of June as being the start of summer.....
but this month has been a real mixed bag in terms of
what the weather is doing.....
some days have felt super summery......
and others have felt positively wintery.....
Evie has been particularly enjoying all the new life that
she has been glimpsiing
in our tiny garden and pond......
there have been baby spiders to gaze at.....
and frogs to try and spy......
she's seen at least half a dozen in the pond and likes to keep
an eye on them to make sure the local cats
{including our own cats of course}
are not terrorizing them.....
however, these two don't look like they could
terrorize very much in a hurry do they......
Evie's been enjoying drawing with pastels lately
and the Winnie the Pooh book has been her
choice of the moment for inspiration.....
I do love to see her laying on the lounge room floor with her
paper and pastels out, just enjoying the process of drawing.....
even though she gets very frustrated with herself when her pictures
don't end up looking just EXACTLY how she wants them to.....
ah, she is her mother's daughter in that regard.....
a momentous thing that has happened during this month is the
arrival of Blue Peter badges at our house......
a green one for Evie for a piece she wrote about animals and nature....
and a blue one for Isaac for his submission of a piece about
one of his Lego inventions.....
they are both looking forward to using these to gain entry
into some rather exciting places over the summer holidays.....
I wonder where we will end up going.....

a highlight of the year for Evie is our home ed
camping trip to the Forest of Dean.....
she has been looking forward to this trip since we left the Forest last year
and was so excited at the thought of spending the weekend with some of
her bestest friends.....
there was lots of marshmallow toasting.....
there was the 'checking of equipment' before embarking
on a caving expedition......
and for me, there was quite a bit of sitting round
enjoying the company of other home ed parents....
who crocheted {go Mary}.....
and taught others to crochet too.....
you can probably tell by our clothing that the camping in
the Forest was a little damp and chilly {one of those times when
June felt decidedly wintery}, but it was great to spend lots of
time with friends and to make new ones too.....
and of course there was a plethora of home baked
goodies to sample too......
which made everything feel just that little bit better......
